Uniform

Wearing of school uniform is a part of our home school agreement which all parents and children sign at the time of admission (A copy is provided in the back of the Prospectus). We believe that uniform makes a clear break between work time and home time, as well as fostering a community feel for all school members. Our school uniform is as follows:

Fleeces, polo shirts and sweatshirts are available new from the School Office, or second-hand via the Friends of Woolsery School (FOWS).

Jewellery is certainly not practical, can be dangerous and only leads to heartache and wasted time when it is lost or damaged.  Only small studs should be worn by children with pierced ears. This greatly reduces the danger of ears being torn or injured during organised games or boisterous play. Children are expected to be able to remove their own ear studs before PE – staff are unable to help with this. It is a good idea to supply your child with a small named bag to put their studs in until they get home when you can help them re-insert them.

Since September 2008, our school has been designated a Forest School. All children take part in Forest School learning each term and we ask parents to provide wellington boots for these sessions. The school supplies waterproof coats and trousers for this exciting outdoor learning experience.

P.E. Clothing

PE kit must be in school at all times and should comprise:

Plimsolls are no longer recommended by Devon Education Services as they do not adequately support children’s feet. However, for hygiene reasons, the trainers worn for PE should be different to those worn for the rest of the day.

Gymnastics and dance lessons are done in the hall and children will have bare feet for these activities.

In colder weather children may, of course, wear jogging bottoms and sweatshirts for outdoor PE.

Please note, though, that children in Key Stage 1 often do not change for their daily Leap Into Life sessions; it is best to talk to your child's teacher about what kit should be kept in school.

Labelling Clothes

Please mark all your child’s clothes.   It is much easier to match lost clothes to anxious owners! Order forms for iron-on and stick-on labels are available from the school office or visit simplystuck.com. (Woolsery Primary School do not promote any particular label-making companies - others are available!)
